I had a tuned Honda CB-1100F at the time, but when Honda/Suzuki/Yamaha/Kawasaki all introduced their "almost race-ready" 2-stroke 250s, I had to have one, and chose this. Up to 150kph it would trounce the 1100, and if there were any twisties involved, it was no contest. I added the "Super Monkey" exhaust tips, which added another 10hp to the already healthy 70hp. (apparently all the manufacturers had this specifically in mind at the time) Two years later, all of these crazy bikes were detuned to a max of 40hp, and internal design changes to make it hard to tune them back up. Power band was a crazy 8,500 to 11,000 rpm, virtually nothing on either side of that. That background is the famous (to knee-draggers), but now emasculated (raised centerline, 'traction-stripes' and heavily-patrolled)Yugawara Pass road from Hakone (near Mt.Fuji) to Atami (ocean resort town).
